Bathroom Project ~ DONE!

YIPPEE!!  All done!  I am so happy this is finished.  But for what it is and what it was ... it turned out great.  The only thing left is for the Bear to put the toilet back in, which he will do Friday afternoon!  (Boy, I wish I had a better camera.  These pictures do not do it justice.)

Gave up on the other rugs... they just were soooo messy.... I will do some for the other bath but I will use denim.  The terry cloth shreds everywhere.  Not pretty on the dark floors.

When my body heals from this room I think I will tackle the kitchen.  I have to figure out the logistics for cooking and etc but the floor is very old linoleum. ICK!!

I really love how the floors turned out.  Looks like leather in real life.... feels good under your feet. and I spilled some paint on it and it wiped right up... no problem!  :O)

So what do you think, Sissy!?  Did I do alright for an old frumpy crippled lady!?  :P

Holy Basil!

Sissy!  Remember I told you I was going to order some Holy Basil seeds?  Well, I finally got it and I'm going to send you some!  Sharon had posted that it is found to remove fluoride from water! Now, if that wasn't enough of a benefit...I found some more information on how good it is for us! Posting below!  Thanks be to YaHuWah who knows all things good for us!

Here are some links I found.

I'm really interested in making the infused honey and finding some tea recipes!

Enjoy!

Bath Remodel ~ Finishing The Installation

In the process of making some repairs.  You can just see under the vanity... I had to pull some out because it was not adhering correctly.  There are also a couple of screws that did not sit right.  Charlie is going to screw them in more and then I can just repair the spots.  Super easy!!  But I have 2 coats of Honey Pine poly on it and it is turning out really pretty.

Sometimes I look at it and it looks like stone.... other times I think it looks like leather scraps sewn together.  Either way... it is a million times better than it was.  Next is to finish the repairs and then caulk the edges.  I am hoping I won't need to put wood trim around it.  I think that will detract from the rustic look.

Bath Remodel ~ Floor Installation Day One

Yesterday I finished the painting and was going to 'rest' today.  Did I tell you I hurt my knee last week... twisted it and I am Gimpy this week... :P.  BUT.... I was so excited to have the floor ready to go that I told myself I would just go the hardest part to get it out of the way.  The vanity was made for you and not for me.... very low!  To paint under it was brutal and to get the first layer of flooring in was ........  ummmm.... lets just say I had to repent a few times... forgive me, Lord!

Here is the beginning..... Wish my camera was better... but you get the idea.

That started, I had glue mixed up so I kept going with the straight edges around the sides... and then decided to just get the toilet area done for practice, since if I messed it up... the toilet itself would hide my mistakes.  Now the toilet area is done....................

..............and the area in front of the tub.  That makes it about halfway done....Took about 1 1/2 actual working time to get this far... not counting breaks and a run to Wally World for insulin.  I will finish the application tomorrow and then I have to decide whether to stain or go with the natural paper color...... not sure yet.

That is where I am so far.  IT IS SOOOOO EASY!!!  I already told Charlie that I am doing my kitchen next............ I don't think he thought I would get this done much less do the kitchen which is much bigger.  LOL!!  :O)

Bath Remodel ~ Painting

OK... I worked on the bath remodel some today.  Painted the vanity and the walls around it.  One wall is yucky so I was doing some camouflage and the vanity was in such awful shape that only a clean coat of paint would help.  Now I just need to find a solution for the rest of the walls.... or just decide to leave them be.  Do NOT want to get in over my head.... I would never hear the end of it from Rick, the landlord.  LOL!!

My bones hurt now from crawling around on the floor trying to paint the vanity... the drawers would NOT come out.... made it tough to get it all but I think it looks better...  Don't you?

Did I also forget to tell you that I had Charlie take the toilet out and plug the hole so that I would have more room to work?

Tomorrow they will be here to replace all the A/C ductwork... that means NO cool ALL day.... :O(.... so I may go to the library and the flea market.... want to come with, Sissy!!  Play hooky...OK?

Nancy's Bath Remodel ~ Set Up

OK... so I starting a remodel of our second bath.  IT IS HIDEOUS!!... and it is stinky!  Yuck!  The walls are sage green... not a pretty sage green... more like army drab green.  The floor is just stick down tiles (another shade of green that DOES NOT GO (read clashes) with the sage green) that were installed wrong from the get go.  They did not butt them up side by side. They left gaps like you would for real tile that you would later grout.  To make matters worse most of the glue is not dry... very tacky, but not stuck down tight.  You walk on it and sit down on the pot and listen and you can hear it popping back up.  To top it all off... the whole bathroom is so stinky!!  Anyway, here is what it looks like to begin with:

See, I told you so!!  ICKY!!   So I made a deal with the landlord, Rick, that if he would take up the old tile I would make it beautiful... SOMEHOW!!  LOL!   Yesterday he came and put down all new plywood on the floor over the other nasty stuff.  (A big thank you to Rick... he really took his time and did an awesom job so that the floors do not squeaky and there is little prep work that will have to be done!! YEAH!!)

Much better all ready.... yes?  Next step will be to wood putty any gaps in the plywood where he piece it together and then sand that when it is dry. Most of the gaps are around the toilet and near the tub. So I am going to put a coat or two of Polyurethane over the whole floor just for extra protection.

Ultimately, I will replace the ugly tile look with a new "Brown Bag" floor similar to the ones below:

Love it! And it feels so wonderful under your feet when it is done.  Very easy to keep clean.  We did Tessie's whole house this way and it worked out fabulously, even with 3 dogs in the house!

Well, that is all for now.  I will start the putty process over the weekend (so the Bear can help me...sshhh!!  Don't tell him, he'll run!).  And I will upload photos on each step.  Maybe that you can use this process in your new house, Sissy!  I love you!  ........................  (TAG:  Your it!  Your turn to share.... I want to see your gardens!!)

Garden Girlz Living Journal

Welcome to a living journal created to record the adventures of the Garden Girlz as they walk the Narrow Road.  Leesa lives in Texas, and Nancy is across the 'pond' in Southwest Florida.  Garden Girlz are best friends forever who met online, and have yet to meet face to face.  This journal is a place for them to share their everyday pursuits, such as gardening, baking, and DIY projects.  Here they can also record their successes and failures with words and images, that the other may share in the fun!

Ultimately, however, this is all a rabbit trail, 'veering off subject or off the point of the conversation or destination', which is ONLY about following the Messiah, YahuShua, our Savior... doing all that HE commands, and waiting anxiously for His soon return!!  Until THAT day, together, the Garden Girlz will shout His controversy, feed His sheep, care for the poor, and needy, widows and orphans, and just love one another and abide in His word.....and TRY to grow a garden, create something beautiful out of nothing, while caring for their family's in the best manner possible, Here's to you, Garden Girlz!!
